Entre el 13 y el 22 de Abril (2012) se ha celebrado en el Empire Polo Club de Indio (California) el Festival del Valle de la Música y las Artes Coachella 2012.

En el vídeo se muestra la actuación de Tupac Shakur junto a sus compinches Dr. Dre y Snoop Dogg. Esto no tendría nada de particular si no fuera porque Tupac Shakur lleva 16 años muerto (de un disparo en la cabeza en las Vegas )

Me encanta este efecto porque recupera una ilusión teatral del siglo XVI desarrollada por Giambattista della Porta en su obra 'Magia Naturalis' (Magia Natural), aunque fue Jhon Henry Pepper quien lo popularizó a mediados del siglo XIX (de ahí el nombre del efecto: 'Fantasmas de Pepper')

I love this effect because recovers a stage illusion from 16th century developed by Giambattista della Porta in his work 'Magia Naturalis' (Natural Magic), though it was John Henry Perpper who popularized it during mid-19th century (hence the effect's name: 'Peper's Ghost')

Con una astuta iluminación y placas de cristal, era capaz de reflejar la imagen de un actor haciendo de fantasma sobre otra placa de cristal que creaba la fantasmagórica imagen 'real'.

With the crafty lightig and glass panes, he was able to reflect the image of an actor portraying the ghost onto another glass pane on the stage which creted a 'real' looking ghostly image.

Con este principio ¿por qué no reflejar una proyección sobre la placa de cristal en lugar de iluminar a un actor tras ella? y ya puestos ¿por qué no hacerlo con un personaje que no podría pisar un escenario de otra manera?. La tecnología actual nos permite recrear una actuación de Tupac Shakur y la historia del teatro lo devuelve al escenario.

With this principle, why not reflect a showing on the glass pane instead lighting an actor behind it? and, while we are at it, why don't do it with a character who couldn´t step on a stage in other way?. Present-day technogy permits us to recreate a Tupac Shakur performance and theatre history put him back to stage.
